The FMA or Filipino Martial Arts, like many other martial arts, is a system with numerous branches. Depending on the major island, where the art is practiced, the instructor may call it Arnis (Luzon), Eskrima(Visayas) or Kali(Mindanao) The term Arnis, came from the term “Arnes de mano,” meaning “armour of the hands.

Adapted Taekwon-Do Program
Inclusive Special Needs Course
On first glance you might ask what Taekwondo could offer children with disabilities. Though it requires physical participation, Taekwon-do is not just about kicking and punching. It is also about developing character and inner-strength, self-discipline and self-reliance. For a committed student, with disabilities or not, personal growth and development will always be a welcome benefit.
Adapted training is integrated to allow adapted students to learn from their abled peers. THESE ABILITIES MATTER. All it takes is patience and care.
Since 2015, DSRF and DSATaekwondo have been partners in promoting inclusivity in Taekwon-Do. Mr. Andaya has championed the inclusion of adapted taekwon-do in competitions. Starting with its inclusion at BC Provincials in 2013, the adapted event became part of history 10 years later when its first champions were recornized at the 2023 Canadian National Championships.
DSA Martial Arts is a participating venue of the Access 2 Card program of Easter Seals Canada. Caregivers of card members may train with their charge for free. The additional 1-on-1 support will help the student integrate with the class faster.
