Our Instructors are Internationally Certified Members of the International Taekwon-Do Federation. We are members of the Canadian Taekwon-Do Federation International and the ITF of British Columbia
Train like a CHAMPION! Join DSA Taekwon-Do's team of excellent competitors. Though we train for defense, competitions test our skills and help us keep on improving. Our members have competed through all levels of competitions including several World Championships.

Arnis-Escrima-Kali
The National Martial Art of the Philippines, it is characterized as sabre play using wooden canes. Practitioners are noted for their ability to fight with weapons or empty hands interchangeably. Weapons-training takes precedence because of the it edge gives in real fights.
The word “bagani” traces its Austronesian roots back to the Proto-Malayo-Polynesian word “barani,” which means “hero or war-leader,” also “dare to do.” If something is worth doing, we dare to do it. Train Kali-Arnis with us.
Bagani Kali Combatives Canada follows the Lightning Scientific Arnis system. It revolves around the concept of intercepting and redirecting attacks and blind-siding the opponent by going to the off-side and blanketing him with a barrage of continuous strikes while the checking hand constantly pushes, presses and controls his opponent putting him in a constant state of imbalance.
The FMA or Filipino Martial Arts, like many other martial arts, is a system with numerous branches. Depending on the major island, where the art is practiced, the instructor may call it Arnis (Luzon), Eskrima(Visayas) or Kali(Mindanao) The term Arnis, came from the term “Arnes de mano,” meaning “armour of the hands.

Little Dragon Program
3 to 7 years old Prep Course
The Little Dragons Taekwon-do Program is a preparatory program for Pre-school and early elementary aged children. The focus of the class is basic Taekwon-do techniques including strikes, kicks, blocks and stances as well as self defense. For younger kids, it also includes training on balance, focus, flexibility and development of fine motor functions.
These Little Dragons will amaze you at what they can learn in such a small amount of time! Start them young! Let them use their energy into a life skill like Taekwon-Do!
There are 6 White Belt levels in the Little Dragons Course as indicated by differentstripes on the white belt. After LD Black Belt, the student is promoted to as a Yellow Belt in the main program.
Little Dragons get the benefit of Improved listening skills, Increased focus and self-control, optimized balance and posture, as well as acquiring a habit of enjoying physical activitities. Martial arts skills is tempered by strict discipline and adherence to a code of conduct.

Adapted Taekwon-Do Program
Inclusive Special Needs Course
On first glance you might ask what Taekwondo could offer children with disabilities. Though it requires physical participation, Taekwon-do is not just about kicking and punching. It is also about developing character and inner-strength, self-discipline and self-reliance. For a committed student, with disabilities or not, personal growth and development will always be a welcome benefit.
Adapted training is integrated to allow adapted students to learn from their abled peers. THESE ABILITIES MATTER. All it takes is patience and care.
Since 2015, DSRF and DSATaekwondo have been partners in promoting inclusivity in Taekwon-Do. Mr. Andaya has championed the inclusion of adapted taekwon-do in competitions. Starting with its inclusion at BC Provincials in 2013, the adapted event became part of history 10 years later when its first champions were recornized at the 2023 Canadian National Championships.
DSA Martial Arts is a participating venue of the Access 2 Card program of Easter Seals Canada. Caregivers of card members may train with their charge for free. The additional 1-on-1 support will help the student integrate with the class faster.

Harmony Program
Over Fifty and Fit!
Launched in 2015 by the ITF, this programme is based on integrating those aged 50 and older into ITF Taekwon-Do. The harmony program goal is to improve physical health, coordination, memory, quality of life and sense of security for Elderly people. The name is referring to the harmony between body and mind that practitioners achieve during the program.
Taekwon-Do adapts to what you can do and enhances it. Don't be shy, give it a try!
Our instructors are IHC certified. Although most of the instructors are younger, they have trained to understand how the "Avance-aged" works. Let your body tell you your own pace. It's never too late to practice Taekwon-Do.
DID YOU KNOW THAT... In South Korea, the most common way to say grandma in Korean is 할머니 (halmeoni), also often spelled as “halmoni.” This specifically means grandma in English. Is it a coincidence that this program is meant for senior aged students?

OUR CLASSES
We offer two exceptional Programs for Self-Defense. Taekwon-Do for unarmed defense, Kali-Arnis for Weapons-based defense.
